Sight
The main character in Sight is the
developer of the gadget that allows people to see everything they can in more
detail than a normal human. He is the developer of this product and works for
the company so is able to see and use the product to his own advantages. This
is shown using the displays that he uses to view the other character, as it
shows he able to read the mind of the other character in the story. The main
character appears to be slightly arrogant and cocky using his facial gestures
which even before revealed, makes it clear to the audience that he is able to
see things that the other people cannot. By the constant, omniscient smile that
the main character has, the audience is lead to believe that he is able to
manipulate the other character due to the fact that he knows everything there
is to know about her.
The lighting used in the film is more often
than not very bright when viewing the man, this lighting effect gives the man
an omnipotent feel to him, as if he has more power than others and that he is
almost god like. Bright lights are often connoted with heaven and god like
mythology, so by using this lighting it is able to show that the main character
is all seeing and all knowing, like a god is supposed to be. Bright lighting is
also associated with the future as the future is often seen as bright, so this
connotes that the environment the characters are set in is in the future.
The environment that the film is set in is
a very clean and bright scene. This connotes that the place they are in is very
futuristic and is not in the modern day, by making the scenes bright and clean
it allows the film to show that the characters are in a more futuristic world
than modern times without actually having to state or establish where they are,
so it can be done subliminally through the associations that are given off by
the media.
There are few props used in the short film
to demonstrate the product “sight” as most of it is done by CGI and editing.
However changing the colour of the characters eyes, and making them look as if
they are pieces of technology rather than parts of the body, this allows the
viewer to realise that the gadget is inside the body, without showing a solid
piece of technology. There are props used in the main characters house and in
the restaurant to demonstrate the scene that they are in, even though there are
no establishing shots of the scenes.
